Cambron Covered Bridge, Upland South Travel Guide

Located on the Madison County Nature Trail, the Cambron Covered Bridge is a delightful landmark offering visitors a peaceful connection with nature. The bridge is named in honor of Joe E. Cambron, who served as the Madison County Bridge Foreman from 1958 to 1974. While not historically significant as it was built in 1974, it provides a charming and picturesque element to the Nature Trail.The bridge spans a section of Sky Lake, a 17-acre lake within the 72-acre park, creating a beautiful scene that's particularly stunning during the fall when the surrounding foliage bursts with color. The bridge and its reflection in the lake offer excellent photo opportunities, making it a popular spot for engagement and graduation photos.Beyond the bridge, the Madison County Nature Trail offers a variety of attractions, including a historic log cabin dating back to 1810, which was relocated to the trail and reassembled. Visitors can explore the cabin to get a sense of early life in Madison County. The trail also features an A-frame chapel available for reservations, an outdoor classroom, and a Braille trail with descriptive plaques. The park is recognized as a Treasure Forest by the Alabama Forestry Commission and serves as a Wildlife Sanctuary.
