From Pojan, it's approximately a 20-minute walk to the archaeological site. Bus fares from Tirana to Fier are around 300 Lek. A taxi from Fier to Apollonia is another option from the Fier bus station, costing approximately 2,000 Lek (€17) for a round trip, including waiting time.

Apollonia Archaeological Park, located near Fier in Albania, is a captivating window into the past, revealing the remnants of a once-thriving ancient city. Founded in 588 BC by Greek colonists from Corfu and Corinth, Apollonia quickly became an important urban center in the region. The city flourished due to its strategic location on the Via Egnatia, connecting the Adriatic Sea to Byzantium, and its port, which could accommodate up to 100 ships. At its peak, Apollonia was a major cultural and commercial hub, home to around 60,000 residents. It attracted philosophers, scholars, and artists, and even served as a center of learning; Octavian Augustus, the future Roman Emperor, studied here. The city's prosperity was fueled by trade, agriculture, and natural resources like asphalt. Today, visitors can explore the extensive archaeological park and discover remarkable ruins, including the Bouleuterion (council house), the Odeon (theater), the Nymphaeum (a decorated fountain), the Library, and Roman villas adorned with intricate mosaics. The Archaeological Museum, housed in the 13th-century Monastery of St. Mary, showcases a rich collection of artifacts unearthed from the site, providing further insights into Apollonia's history and daily life.
