    Discover more about Cal Pal

Cal Pal, nestled in the charming village of La Cortinada, is more than just a museum; it's a journey through time, offering a profound connection to Andorran identity and heritage. Documented since the 14th century, the building initially served as the Escoter inn before becoming the ancestral home of the Pal family. The house was owned by the Escoter inn and donated in 1435 to Joan Pal d'Ordino. Throughout the late Middle Ages and early modern age, the Pal family managed the house until they joined with Casa Teixidó from Sispony through marriage.Architecturally, Cal Pal represents a classic example of Andorran vernacular design, with expansions and renovations occurring in the 16th and 19th centuries. These additions included a third annex, a dovecot, and covered galleries, reflecting the evolving needs and tastes of its inhabitants. The last resident, Anton “Tonillo” Torres Armengol, known as “el Pal”, passed away in 1956, after which the house was sold to Serafí Reig Ribó in 1962.Today, Cal Pal has been transformed into a sociocultural space, hosting temporary exhibitions and fostering reflection on Andorra's natural and cultural heritage. Visitors can explore thoughtfully curated exhibits, showcasing artifacts, photographs, and interactive installations that bring Andorran history to life. Guided tours are available in multiple languages, providing deeper insights into the stories and significance of the house and its collections.
