Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Cortals d'Encamp, follow the well-marked 'Camí de Brigal' (red marks) towards the river. Cross the river and continue along the path to the Refugi d'Ensagents. The hike takes approximately 2 hours, with an elevation gain of 480 meters. Note that the route is considered easy.

  • Driving

    Drive from Encamp to Cortals d'Encamp on the CS-220 road. From Cortals d'Encamp, continue towards Borda del Tresà. Park here and proceed on foot, following the 'Camí de Brigal'. Parking is available at Cortals d'Encamp, but it can be limited during peak season. Parking is free.

The Refugi d'Ensagents, inaugurated in 1981, is located in the picturesque Ensagents Valley, at an elevation of 2,425 meters above sea level. Situated on the right bank of the Ensagents River, this unguarded mountain refuge offers a haven for hikers and shepherds alike. The refuge features two rooms: a smaller space with a fireplace traditionally used by shepherds, and a larger room equipped with tables, benches, metal bunk beds, and a wood stove. Outside, visitors can find barbecue facilities and a water source just a few meters away. The refuge has a capacity of 14 people. Although the refuge is open year-round, maintenance is typically carried out during the summer months, including cleaning, firewood stocking and first aid kit replenishment. Mobile phone coverage is available in the area. The Refugi d'Ensagents serves as a starting point for several hiking trails, including routes to the Estanys d'Ensagents (Ensagents Lakes) and Alt del Griu, one of the highest peaks in Andorra. The surrounding area boasts diverse flora and stunning views of glacial valleys.
