Discover more about Miradouro Serra da Leba

The Miradouro Serra da Leba, or Serra da Leba Viewpoint, is perched at the top of the Serra da Leba Pass, offering visitors an unforgettable panorama of Angola's dramatic landscape. The viewpoint provides a sweeping vista of the Serra da Leba mountain range, characterized by steep cliffs and unique rock formations. The highlight is undoubtedly the Serra da Leba Pass itself, an engineering marvel featuring a winding road that snakes down the escarpment, dropping 1,000 meters in a series of hairpin turns. The road's construction began in the late 1960s during the colonial period, with the aim of connecting the coastal city of Namibe with the inland highlands. Completed in 1972, the pass remains a vital route and a stunning example of civil engineering, so much so that it is featured on the Angolan 2000 Kwanza banknote. From the Miradouro, you can see how the road descends and disappears into the lush vegetation below. The viewpoint offers a perspective of the harmonious blend of human engineering and nature's grandeur. The area is also known for its diverse flora and fauna, and the occasional waterfall during the rainy season.
