The Blockhouse, situated in Piccadilly, Antigua, is a captivating historical site that offers a glimpse into the island's colonial past. From this vantage point, the British military could monitor the southern Atlantic and Caribbean approaches to English Harbour.Visitors can explore the remnants of the fortifications, including the officer's quarters, powder magazine, cistern, and enlisted men's barracks. Although largely in ruins, the site provides informative plaques and guided tours that enrich the experience, offering insights into the lives of the soldiers who once manned this strategic outpost. The Blockhouse Loop trail also starts and finishes here in the ruins.Today, The Blockhouse is a popular spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the breathtaking views. On clear days, it's possible to see French Guadeloupe on the horizon. The Blockhouse stands as a testament to Antigua's rich heritage and strategic importance in the Caribbean.
