Walking
If you are starting from the center of St. John's, head east on Long Street towards the intersection with Market Street. Continue straight until you reach the northern end of Market Street, where you will see the entrance to Fort James. Walk through the fort area, enjoying the historical structures. After exploring the fort, exit through the main gate and turn right onto Fort Road. Follow Fort Road until you reach the coastline. At this point, turn left and walk along the waterfront heading north. The lighthouse is located at the end of this path, approximately a 15-minute walk from the fort.
Public Transport (Bus)
From the main bus station in St. John's, take a bus heading towards the northern beaches. You will want to alight at the stop nearest to Fort James. After getting off the bus, walk through Fort James as described in the walking guidance above until you reach the lighthouse. This option may take longer, depending on the bus schedule, but provides a scenic route through the area.
Taxi or Ride-share
For a more direct route without walking, you can hail a taxi or use a ride-sharing app. Simply tell the driver you want to go to St John's Lighthouse at coordinates 4596+34, St John's. The driver will take you directly to the lighthouse. This is the quickest way to reach your destination if you prefer not to walk or use public transport.
