Los Médanos: A Desert Oasis in Cafayate

Los Médanos, located just outside Cafayate in Salta Province, Argentina, presents a striking contrast to the region's vineyards and mountainous terrain. These sand dunes, also known as 'dunas,' offer visitors a unique landscape reminiscent of a coastal desert, despite being far from the sea. Formed millions of years ago from the sediments of a vast ancient lake, Los Médanos covers approximately 20 square kilometers.
