    Discover more about Monday Falls

Monday Falls (Saltos del Monday) presents a stunning natural spectacle often overlooked due to its proximity to the world-renowned Iguazu Falls. Located in Presidente Franco, Paraguay, these falls offer a more tranquil and intimate experience of South America's natural beauty. The falls cascade down approximately 40 meters (130 feet) in three main drops, surrounded by lush subtropical forest, part of the last remaining blocks of the Alto Paraná Atlantic forests. The name 'Monday' comes from the Guarani language, possibly meaning 'stolen water'. Historically, the falls were an important site for the pre-Hispanic Guarani people. Visitors can explore the falls via well-maintained walking trails that wind through the surrounding Municipal Park Monday. These trails lead to various viewpoints offering panoramic perspectives. For a closer view, an elevator descends to the base of the falls (additional fee), providing a unique and immersive experience. Adventure activities like zip-lining and rappelling are also available for thrill-seekers. Keep an eye out for the Great Dusky Swifts that nest behind the falls.
