Discover more about Lago del Parque Central

Lago del Parque Central provides a serene retreat within the bustling city of Mendoza. Located in the heart of Parque Central, this man-made lake offers visitors a peaceful environment to unwind and enjoy nature. The lake is surrounded by well-maintained green spaces, perfect for picnics, leisurely strolls, and simply soaking up the sun. The calm waters reflect the surrounding trees and sky, creating a picturesque scene that invites relaxation. While primarily a place for quiet enjoyment, the lake also offers opportunities for recreation. Visitors can rent paddle boats or kayaks to explore the water, or simply sit by the shore and watch the ducks and other waterfowl that call the lake home. The park surrounding the lake often hosts local events and activities, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. Parque Central itself has an interesting history. After the city walls were demolished in 1863, the area remained empty for some time. In 1875, a statue of Queen Isabel II of Spain was erected, and a park was built around it in 1877. The statue was removed in 1899, and later replaced by a statue representing freedom, which was soon destroyed by a cyclone. Today, Parque Central and its lake stand as a testament to Mendoza's commitment to providing green spaces for its citizens and visitors.
