Most visitors approach Cerro Torre from El Chalten, a village known as Argentina's trekking capital. From El Chalten, follow the well-marked trail to Laguna Torre, which offers stunning views of Cerro Torre. The hike is approximately 9 km (5.6 miles) each way and takes about 3-4 hours. The trail is mostly flat but can be rocky in some sections. There is currently no entrance fee to access this trail.

To reach El Chalten, take a bus from El Calafate International Airport (FTE). Several bus companies operate this route, including Chalten Travel, Taqsa, and Cal-Tur. The bus journey takes approximately 3 hours. As of May 2025, a one-way ticket costs around AR$35,000, plus a municipal tax of AR$2,000. It is recommended to book tickets in advance, especially during the peak season.

Taxis are available from El Calafate International Airport to El Chalten, but this is the most expensive option.
