The Firma and Odilo Estevez Municipal Museum of Decorative Art, also known as Museo Municipal de Arte Decorativo Firma y Odilo Estevez, is located in the heart of Rosario, Argentina. The museum is in front of Plaza 25 de Mayo, near the town hall and the Cathedral. The museum is more than just a collection of decorative arts; it's a journey through time, offering a glimpse into the lives and tastes of one of Rosario's most prominent families. The museum is housed in the Estevez family's former residence, a building that is a masterpiece of late 19th-century architecture. Firma Mayor de Estevez bequeathed her mansion and its contents to the city in memory of her husband, Odilo Estevez. The museum officially opened its doors to the public in 1968. The museum showcases a permanent exhibition of artwork that was gathered by the Estevez family, including Spanish furniture from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries and copies of 18th-century French furniture. The collection includes European paintings, sculptures, works in ivory, glass, porcelain, jade, and silver, as well as tapestries, carpets, and fans. The collection features works by artists such as Francisco de Goya, Jacques-Louis David, and Antoine Auguste Ernest Hébert. In 2020, restoration work revealed historical remnants beneath the museum's floors, including an ancient cistern and drains. These discoveries are visible to visitors through a glass panel in the museum's dining room floor.
