From the Valley Metro Rail station at Central Ave/Washington St, walk west on Washington Street for approximately 2 blocks. The Historic City Hall will be on your right, at the corner of 1st Ave and Washington St. Walking distance is less than 5 minutes. No cost involved.

Take the Valley Metro Rail to the Central Ave/Washington St station. From there, walk west on Washington Street for about 2 blocks. The Historic City Hall is on the right. A single ride fare on the light rail is $2, or a day pass is $4. Trains run every 15-20 minutes.

Located at 125 W Washington St in downtown Phoenix, the Historic City Hall stands as a testament to the city's rich history and architectural heritage. Constructed in 1929, this elegant building combines neoclassical elements with Beaux-Arts design, featuring grand columns and intricate detailing.Originally serving as both the Maricopa County Courthouse and the Phoenix City Hall, the building played a vital role in the administration of justice and governance. The city and county offices were housed in separate sections, with the county jail located on the fifth and sixth floors. Notably, the courthouse was the site of Ernesto Miranda's first trial, which led to the landmark Miranda v. Arizona case and the Miranda warning.As Phoenix expanded, the building became too small for both city and county functions. The City Hall relocated in 1994 to a new building at 200 W Washington St. Today, the Historic City Hall is part of the Maricopa County administration complex and occasionally hosts special events and exhibitions. The Maricopa County Justice Museum is also located on-site.
