Discover more about Lake Havasu State Park

Lake Havasu State Park is a true desert oasis, offering a wide array of recreational opportunities and stunning scenery. Established in 1965, the park encompasses over 900 acres and boasts 2.5 miles of shoreline on the Colorado River. The park's history is intertwined with the creation of Lake Havasu itself, formed by the construction of the Parker Dam in 1938. In the 1960s, the State Parks Board worked to preserve the area, leading to the park's official designation. The arrival of the London Bridge in the early 1970s further boosted the area's popularity, transforming Pittsburg Point into an island and drawing more visitors to the park. Today, Lake Havasu State Park is a haven for watersports enthusiasts, offering boating, swimming, fishing, and more. Visitors can launch their own vessels from one of the park's three boat ramps or rent a boat from the on-site concessionaire. The park also features a designated swimming area along the shoreline, perfect for cooling off in the Arizona heat. For those who prefer to stay on land, the park offers the Mohave Sunset Trail, a 1.75-mile path that winds through the desert landscape and along the shoreline. The Arroyo-Camino Interpretive Garden showcases the diverse flora and fauna of the area, with opportunities to spot birds, lizards, and desert cottontails. Lake Havasu State Park also provides convenient camping facilities, with 54 campsites available for RVs and tents. Many sites offer 50-amp electrical hookups, potable water, picnic tables, and fire rings. For a more comfortable experience, visitors can rent one of the park's 13 beachside cabins, which include a queen bed, bunk beds, and air conditioning.
