Discover more about Downtown Gilbert Water Tower

The Downtown Gilbert Water Tower is more than just a structure; it's a nostalgic reminder of Gilbert's transformation from a small farming town to a bustling suburban center. Constructed in 1927, the water tower provided the then-small population of 500 residents with readily available water, enabling the start of a volunteer fire-fighting department. It served the community until 1985, and was preserved by the Gilbert Town Council. Today, the restored water tower is the centerpiece of Water Tower Plaza, a 0.7-acre park that opened in 2008. The plaza features water walls, a splash pad (currently closed), a large granite floating ball, and seating areas. The plaza hosts various community events, from holiday lightings to concerts. The Gilbert Water Tower is often lit in various colors to celebrate community initiatives and holidays. Visitors can stroll around the tower and enjoy the surrounding Water Tower Plaza. The area is pedestrian-friendly, with a variety of local shops and eateries nearby. The plaza also includes the Historic Adobe Pump House, which was Gilbert's first jail.
