- Arrive early, especially during peak season (April-October), as the parking lot fills up quickly.
- Wear appropriate footwear, as the rocks in and around Oak Creek are very slippery.
- Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the Arizona sun.
- Note that pets are not allowed in the park from May 1 to September 30, and glass containers are prohibited year-round in the swim area.
- Consider visiting during the off-season (late November to early March) for fewer crowds and a more peaceful experience.

Driving
Slide Rock State Park is located on Highway 89A, about 7 miles (11 km) north of Sedona. From Sedona, take Highway 89A north. The drive is scenic, but parking at the park is limited and fills up quickly. Entrance fees are per vehicle: $30 Friday - Sunday and Holiday Mondays, $20 Monday - Thursday. Alternatively, from Flagstaff, take Highway 89A south for approximately 21 miles. Limited roadside parking is available about half a mile north of the park entrance, requiring a $5 Red Rock Pass and a climb down to the creek.

From Sedona, a taxi or rideshare to Slide Rock State Park is a convenient option. The trip is approximately 8 miles and takes about 14 minutes. Expect to pay around $20-$24 for a one-way taxi ride. Keep in mind that cellular service can be unreliable in Oak Creek Canyon, so scheduling a return trip in advance might be wise.
