If you are traveling by car within Tucson Mountain Park, start at the entrance of the park on E. Camino del Cerro. Drive along the main road, following signs for the various attractions. Continue until you reach the intersection with the S. Kinney Road. Turn left onto S. Kinney Road and proceed to the Turtle Pond area, which is located near the intersection of S. Kinney Road and W. Gates Pass Road. Look for parking areas along the road, as Turtle Pond does not have a dedicated parking lot.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take the Sun Tran bus #6 from downtown Tucson towards the Tucson Mountain Park. Get off at the nearest stop to the park entrance. From there, you will need to walk approximately 2 miles along E. Camino del Cerro to reach Turtle Pond. Be prepared for some uneven terrain. It’s advisable to use a map or GPS on your smartphone to guide you once you exit the bus.
Walking
If you are already within Tucson Mountain Park and wish to walk to Turtle Pond, start from any trailhead nearby. Follow the trail markers for the scenic routes that lead towards the pond. The walk will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your pace. Ensure you have appropriate footwear and plenty of water, as temperatures can be high during the day.
