Walking
From the center of Aparan, head west on the main street (Aparan Street). Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach a fork in the road. Take the left path, which is marked with signs leading to Amberd. Follow this road, which will gradually incline, for approximately 5 kilometers. You will pass several small villages and beautiful landscapes along the way. Keep an eye out for local signs directing you towards the fortress. The road will eventually lead you directly to Amberd Road. The fortress will be visible as you approach. The entire walk should take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.

For a more adventurous route, you can hike from Aparan to Amberd fortress by following the hiking trails that lead through the surrounding hills. Start from the main square in Aparan, heading northwest towards the hills. Look for trail markers that indicate the route to Amberd. This trail will take you through scenic areas, offering views of the mountains and valleys. The hike is about 6 kilometers and should take around 2 to 3 hours. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry water.
