Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, start by entering Khosrov Forest State Reserve through the main entrance. Follow the main road for about 10 kilometers until you reach the sign for Havuts Tar Monastery. Turn onto the dirt road that leads towards the monastery complex. The road may be bumpy, so drive slowly. After about 2 kilometers, you will see the monastery complex on your left side. There is a small parking area where you can leave your car.

Public Transportation
To reach Havuts Tar Monastery Complex via public transportation, take a bus or minibus from Yerevan to the nearest village, Garni. From Garni, you can hire a taxi to take you to the entrance of Khosrov Forest State Reserve. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and may cost around 3,000-4,000 AMD. Once inside the reserve, you can either walk or arrange for a local guide to take you to the monastery, which is about 12 kilometers from the entrance. Alternatively, you can ask the taxi driver to drop you off directly at the monastery complex.

For adventurous travelers already in Khosrov Forest State Reserve who prefer to walk, from the main entrance, follow the marked hiking trails that lead to Havuts Tar Monastery. The hike is approximately 12 kilometers and may take 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities on the trail. The path is well-marked but can be challenging, so wear appropriate hiking footwear.
