Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car within the Vayots Dzor Region, head towards the H11 highway. Khor Virap Monastery is located approximately 8 km south of the city of Artashat. From Artashat, take the H11 road towards the village of Pokr Vedi. Continue on the H11 for about 5 km, and you'll see signs for Khor Virap. The monastery is situated on a hill and is visible from the road. There is free parking available near the entrance.

    For those using public transportation, you can take a marshrutka (minibus) from Yerevan to Artashat. Marshrutkas depart frequently throughout the day. Once you arrive in Artashat, you can either take a taxi directly to Khor Virap, which should cost around 2000-3000 AMD, or catch another marshrutka that goes towards the village of Pokr Vedi. Inform the driver that you are going to Khor Virap. The marshrutka will drop you off at the main road, from where it is about a 15-minute walk to the monastery.
