From Yerevan, take the M1 highway towards Vayots Dzor. Continue on M1 until you reach the town of Yeghegnadzor. In Yeghegnadzor, follow the signs to Artabuynk. After passing through Artabuynk, look for signs directing you to Smbataberd. The fortress is located at the coordinates 39.8717374, 45.3384059. You can park your car near the entrance.

Take a bus or minibus from Yerevan to Yeghegnadzor. Buses leave regularly from the Yerevan Central Bus Station. Once in Yeghegnadzor, you can take a taxi to Artabuynk. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. From Artabuynk, you can either walk to Smbataberd or arrange for a local taxi to take you directly to the fortress.
