Getting There

  • Driving

If driving from the Palm Beach area, head north along Route 1 (L.G. Smith Boulevard). Continue past the high-rise hotels and commercial areas. As you drive further north, the landscape will become more rugged and less developed. Look for signs indicating the turn-off to Aruba Shack Beach, which will be an unnamed road. Turn onto this road and follow it to the beach. Note that the roads in this area are mostly unpaved, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially after rain. Parking is free and available near the beach.

  • Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Aruba, especially in major tourist areas like Palm Beach and Oranjestad. A taxi ride from Palm Beach to Aruba Shack Beach will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Since taxis in Aruba do not have meters, agree on a fare with the driver before starting your journey. A one-way trip to Aruba Shack Beach will likely cost between $30 and $40, but this can vary depending on the starting point and time of day. Note that a surcharge of $3.00 applies on Sundays, official holidays, and between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. The minimum fare is $7.

  • Public Transport

To reach Aruba Shack Beach by public transportation, take the Arubus from the main bus terminal in Oranjestad towards Noord. The bus fare is approximately $3 USD. Ask the driver to drop you off near the unnamed road leading to Aruba Shack Beach. From the bus stop, it's about a 10-minute walk to the beach. Note that the Arubus may not be suitable if you have large suitcases.
