Bubali Bird Sanctuary, located in Noord, Aruba, is a 20-hectare (49 acres) wetland area that provides a tranquil escape for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. This protected area was established in 1980 to offer a safe haven for various species of migratory birds. The sanctuary features interconnected man-made ponds, initially created as part of a wastewater treatment facility, which now serve as a lush oasis for local and migratory birds. The sanctuary is home to over 80 species of birds, including herons, egrets, gulls, skimmers, coots, and ducks. Birdwatchers can observe species such as American coots, common moorhens, white-cheeked pintails, yellow warblers, burrowing owls, and bananaquits. The observation tower on the north side of the sanctuary provides an excellent vantage point for viewing the birds and the surrounding marshlands. The desert scrub vegetation along the seaward side provides habitat for nesting white-tailed nightjars, yellow warblers, burrowing owls, ruby-topaz hummingbirds, eared and common ground doves, and bananaquits. Visitors can explore the sanctuary's well-maintained pathways and enjoy the peaceful ambiance, punctuated by the sounds of water and birds. The Bubali Bird Sanctuary is conveniently located within walking distance of the Palm Beach resorts and is easily spotted in front of the historical Old Dutch Windmill.
