The King Edward VII Memorial stands as a tribute to King Edward VII, who reigned as the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions and Emperor of India from 1901 to 1910. Following the King's death in 1910, Adelaide Mayor Lewis Cohen initiated a public fund to erect a memorial. The memorial features a bronze statue of King Edward VII atop a 4.6-meter marble pedestal. Three allegorical female figures representing Peace, Justice, and South Australia surround the base of the statue. The statue was sculpted by Bertram Mackennal, an Australian sculptor. The memorial was unveiled by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) on July 15, 1920. The memorial was originally intended to be placed in the Prince Henry Gardens, but the location was later changed to its current location on North Terrace. The memorial is located on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue, across from Rundle Mall.
