Car
If you are traveling by car, head to the Bungle Bungle Range from the nearest major town, Kununurra. Take the Great Northern Highway (National Route 1) heading south. After approximately 35 kilometers, turn onto the Bungle Bungle Road. Follow this road for about 53 kilometers until you reach the entrance of the Purnululu National Park. Continue on the unsealed road for about 20 kilometers to reach the Digger's Rest Station. Note that a 4WD vehicle is recommended for the unsealed roads, and there may be a park entry fee of around AUD 13 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you will need to take a bus from Kununurra to Purnululu National Park. Several tour operators offer shuttle services that can take you directly to the park. Check with local tour companies for schedules and prices, which typically range from AUD 100 to AUD 120 for a round trip. Once at the park entrance, you may need to book a local transfer service or a tour that provides transportation to Digger's Rest Station, as public transport options are limited within the park.
Walking/Hiking
For the adventurous traveler, if you are already within the Purnululu National Park, you can hike to Digger's Rest Station. Starting from the nearest hiking trail, follow the marked paths towards the station. The hike can take several hours depending on your starting point and fitness level, so be sure to bring sufficient water, snacks, and a map. Always inform someone of your hiking plans for safety.
