Discover more about Street Art

Austin Lane has evolved into the spiritual home of Darwin's street art scene. What began as a blank canvas has been transformed into a dynamic outdoor gallery, thanks to the Darwin Street Art Festival. Since the festival's inception in 2017, Austin Lane has become a focal point, boasting over 20 murals within its 370-meter stretch. The murals in Austin Lane offer a glimpse into the Northern Territory's culture and social narratives. The lane features works from local Larrakia artists, blending elements of saltwater life with traditional designs. One notable mural pays tribute to Dr G Yunupingu (Gurrumul), painted by artists Andrew Bourke and Jesse Bell. Visitors can explore the laneway and discover hidden corners with lesser-known works. The Darwin Street Art Festival has its own app, offering self-guided tours and information about the artists and their creations. Walking tours and gourmet tours also incorporate the street art, combining art appreciation with local flavors.
