Car
From Port Augusta, take the Eyre Highway (National Route A1) heading west. Continue for approximately 300 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Whyalla. Take the exit toward Whyalla (National Route A1) and follow the signs to Whyalla. Once in Whyalla, continue onto the Lincoln Highway and then follow the signs for Point Lowly. You will turn onto Port Bonython Road, where the lighthouse is located. The drive from Port Augusta will take around 3.5 to 4 hours.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Adelaide to Whyalla, which is operated by several companies including Firefly Express. The journey takes about 8 hours. Once in Whyalla, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to Point Lowly Lighthouse, which is about a 20-minute drive (approximately 15 kilometers) from the city center. Be sure to check bus schedules in advance for the most accurate travel times and availability.
Walking/Exploring
If you are already in Whyalla and prefer an adventure, you can rent a bike or hike along the coastal path towards Point Lowly. Starting from the Whyalla Foreshore, head south along the coast for approximately 15 kilometers. This route offers scenic views of the coastline and can take about 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
