Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Victor Harbor, which is a popular base in Fleurieu Peninsula. Head northwest on the Main South Road (A13) towards Goolwa. Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers until you reach the intersection for the Myponga and Kangaroo Island turn-off. Follow the signs for Myponga, then take the Myponga Beach Road and continue straight until you reach the T-junction. Turn left onto the Hindmarsh Island Road, and then right onto the Goolwa Road, which will take you towards Talia. Upon reaching Talia, follow the signs to Woolshed Cave. The last stretch involves a gravel road, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for this terrain. The approximate travel time is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transport, start at the Victor Harbor bus terminal. Take the bus towards Goolwa, which runs regularly. Upon reaching Goolwa, you will need to transfer to a local taxi service to take you to Talia. Make sure to confirm the taxi availability beforehand, as public transport options may be limited. The taxi ride from Goolwa to Talia may cost around AUD 80-100, depending on the exact location and time of day. Plan your trip accordingly, as it may take you around 2 hours in total, including wait times.

• Bike

  For the adventurous, biking is a great way to explore the Fleurieu Peninsula. You can rent a bike in Victor Harbor and take the scenic coastal route. Follow the Encounter Coast Discovery Trail towards Goolwa, then take the same route as described for cars through Myponga and Talia. This ride can take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace and stops along the way. It’s advisable to carry enough water and snacks, and wear appropriate gear for the gravel roads leading to Woolshed Cave.
