Driving

To reach Freshwater day-use area, a high-clearance 4WD is necessary. From Rainbow Beach, drive south along Rainbow Beach Road, then turn right onto Freshwater Road. Continue for approximately 11.7km on the sand road to reach the day-use area. Vehicle access permits are required for driving on the beach and some inland tracks. Ensure your vehicle registration details are correct on your permit, as 24hr number plate surveillance cameras are in use. There are no specific parking fees for the day-use area, but a vehicle access permit is necessary.
