Ferry and 4WD
If you're already on Fraser Island, you can access Platypus Bay by 4WD. From Kingfisher Bay Resort, follow the road signs towards Platypus Bay, which is approximately a 30-minute drive. Alternatively, take the ferry from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay, and then drive to Platypus Bay. A vehicle access permit is required for driving on Fraser Island, costing around $54.70 per vehicle per week. Ferry tickets from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay are approximately $65 per person return.
