Continue along the entrance road until you reach the Tidal River area, which serves as the main access point for Mount McAlister. Park your car at Tidal River, where you can find information about the walking track to the summit.

To reach Mount McAlister using public transport, take a V/Line bus from Melbourne to Foster. The bus service operates several times a day, and the fare is around AUD 30 one way. From Foster, you can catch a local shuttle bus that operates during peak seasons to Wilsons Promontory National Park. Ensure to check the shuttle bus schedule in advance, as it may vary. Once at the park entrance, a fee of approximately AUD 17 per vehicle applies if you're using a shuttle service. You can then either use the Tidal River area to start your hike or look for any guided tours that might be available.
