If you are traveling by car, start your journey from a central location in Great Southern, such as Albany. From Albany, take the South Coast Highway (National Route 1) heading east. Continue on this road for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach the town of Triabunna. From Triabunna, you will need to take a ferry to Maria Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately AUD 45 for a return trip. Once you arrive at Maria Island, follow the signs to the Fossil Cliffs, which is about a 3-kilometer walk from the ferry terminal.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Albany to Hobart. Once you arrive in Hobart, head to the bus station to catch a bus to Triabunna. After arriving in Triabunna, purchase a ferry ticket to Maria Island. The ferry departs regularly, but it's best to check the schedule in advance. Upon reaching Maria Island, follow the signs to Fossil Cliffs. The walk from the ferry terminal to the cliffs is around 3 kilometers.
