Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in Great Southern, such as Albany. From Albany, take the South Coast Highway (National Route 1) heading east. Continue for approximately 60 kilometers until you reach the town of Esperance. From Esperance, follow the signage to the ferry terminal at Triabunna, which is about 220 kilometers away. The ferry to Maria Island departs from Triabunna and takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Maria Island, follow the marked trails to Painted Cliffs, which is a short walk from the ferry landing.

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Albany to Hobart. From Hobart, use local bus services to reach Triabunna. Once in Triabunna, you can catch the ferry to Maria Island. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes, and upon arrival at Maria Island, follow the signs to Painted Cliffs, which is a short walk from the ferry terminal. Be sure to check the ferry schedule in advance for departure times and ticket costs.

  To visit Painted Cliffs, you must take the ferry from Triabunna to Maria Island. The ferry operates regularly, but schedules may vary, so it is recommended to book in advance. The cost for a return ferry ticket is approximately AUD 45 for adults and AUD 22 for children. Once you arrive at Maria Island, you will have access to various walking trails leading to Painted Cliffs.
