Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Kingscote, walk to the bus stop located near the Kingscote Visitor Information Centre. Board the Kangaroo Island bus service headed toward Penneshaw. After about a 45-minute ride, get off at Penneshaw. From there, follow the signs towards the ferry terminal and take a ferry to the mainland. Once you arrive at the mainland, continue to walk towards the nearest bus stop to catch a bus heading to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse. After about an hour of travel, you will arrive at the Cape Willoughby Conservation Park. Follow the walking trail signs to reach the lighthouse.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle in Penneshaw or Kingscote. From Penneshaw, cycle along Cape Willoughby Road heading east. The journey is approximately 20 kilometers and offers picturesque views of the coastline. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way. Upon reaching the Cape Willoughby Conservation Park, park your bicycle at the designated area and follow the walking path to the lighthouse.

• Public Transport

  From Kingscote, take the Kangaroo Island bus service to Penneshaw. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Once in Penneshaw, you can catch a taxi or a local shuttle service that may be available for tourists to reach Cape Willoughby. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes. Ensure to confirm the taxi availability in advance, as services may vary.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, start from the nearest town and plan a hiking route to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse. If departing from Kingscote, you can hike along the coastal trails that lead to the lighthouse. This hike will take several hours, so ensure you are well-prepared with water, food, and a map. Follow the coastline and look for directional signs to guide you to the lighthouse.
