Car
If you are driving from Alice Springs, take Larapinta Drive out of the city. After approximately 90 km, you will reach the turnoff for Namatjira Drive. Continue on Namatjira Drive, which will take you through the stunning landscapes of the MacDonnell Ranges. After about 30 km, look for the sign indicating Redbank Gorge. Follow the road to the gorge entrance, where you can find parking facilities. Please note that a National Park entry fee may be applicable, which is around AUD 10 per vehicle.
Public Transportation
To reach Redbank Gorge using public transport, first take a bus from Alice Springs to Glen Helen Lodge. There are daily services, but it’s advisable to check the current schedule beforehand. Once you arrive at Glen Helen Lodge, you can either arrange for a taxi or take a local shuttle service to Redbank Gorge. The taxi ride should take about 30 minutes. Ensure you confirm the fare with the driver before departure, as it can vary, but expect to pay around AUD 50-70.
Walking
If you are already at Glen Helen Lodge and prefer a hike, you can walk to Redbank Gorge. The trail starts near the lodge and is approximately a 12 km hike one way, taking around 3-4 hours. Make sure to carry plenty of water, wear appropriate footwear, and check the weather conditions before embarking on the hike.
