Car
If you're traveling by car, the most common route is to take the Outback Highway (also known as the Sturt Highway) from either Port Augusta or Adelaide. From Port Augusta, head north on the A1 highway for about 40 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Flinders Ranges Way (B83). Turn onto Flinders Ranges Way and continue for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach Blinman. The entrance to Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park is just outside Blinman, which is approximately a 3-hour drive from Port Augusta.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, you can take a coach service from Adelaide to Port Augusta. Services such as Greyhound Australia operate regular routes between these cities. Once in Port Augusta, you will need to hire a car to reach Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, as public transport does not extend directly to the park. Renting a car is recommended for flexibility, and prices vary but expect to pay around AUD 70-100 per day. The drive from Port Augusta to Blinman is approximately 3 hours.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route without driving, you can hire a taxi or use a rideshare service from Port Augusta to Blinman. This option is more costly, typically ranging from AUD 200-300 one-way, and the travel time is roughly 3 hours. Ensure to confirm with your driver about returning to Port Augusta or arranging a pickup time.
