Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to the Australian Museum, start by heading towards the Sydney CBD. Use the M1 or the Eastern Distributor to reach the city. Once you get close, follow the signs for Darlinghurst. When you reach William Street, look for the museum, which is located at 1 William St, Darlinghurst NSW 2010. There is limited street parking available, and you may also consider parking in nearby parking stations, which usually charge around AUD 10-20 per hour.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  You can take one of several bus routes that head towards the city and disembark at the nearest bus stop to the museum. Routes 333, 380, and the 389 are good options. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the museum. Ensure you have an Opal card for fare payment, which will cost approximately AUD 3.50-5.00 for a single trip, depending on your starting point.

• Public Transportation - Train

  Take a train to Museum Station or St James Station on the City Circle Line. From Museum Station, exit and walk approximately 10 minutes towards the Australian Museum, following signs for William Street. If you arrive at St James Station, exit and walk about 15 minutes. Don’t forget to get an Opal card, which will cost approximately AUD 3.50-5.00 for a single trip.

• Public Transportation - Light Rail

  You can also take the light rail to the Central Station and then transfer to a bus or walk to the museum. The light rail fare will also use the Opal card system, costing around AUD 3.50-5.00 for a single journey. The walk from Central is about 20 minutes.
