Car
From Sydney CBD, take the M1 Motorway (Pacific Motorway) heading south. Continue on the M1 for about 25 km. Take the exit towards Caringbah, then merge onto the Taren Point Road. Continue on Taren Point Road until you reach the roundabout, then take the second exit onto Captain Cook Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow the signs to Port Hacking. You will arrive at various access points along the river. Parking is available in designated areas, but check for any parking fees.
Public Transportation
From Sydney CBD, take a train from Central Station to Cronulla Station. The train journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Once at Cronulla Station, transfer to a local bus (Route 987) that goes to Port Hacking. The bus ride will take about 20 minutes. Ensure you have an Opal card for public transport, which can be purchased at train stations. The bus fare will vary depending on your starting point, but expect to pay around AUD 3.50 to AUD 5.00.
Ferry
If you're near the waterfront, you can also take a ferry from Circular Quay to Cronulla. The ferry ride provides stunning views and takes about 1 hour. After arriving at Cronulla, you can take the local bus (Route 987) to Port Hacking. Similar to the train, ensure you have an Opal card for your ferry fare. The ferry fare will typically be around AUD 7.00 to AUD 10.00.
