Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Halls Gap, which is a central location in The Grampians. Head northeast on Grampians Rd towards Halls Gap Rd. Continue onto Grampians Rd for about 10 km until you reach the intersection with Mt Zero Rd. Turn right onto Mt Zero Rd and follow it for approximately 14 km. Heatherlie Quarry will be on your right-hand side. Look for the sign marking the quarry as you approach. There is no entry fee to access the quarry.
Public Transport + Walking
For those using public transportation, take the V/Line bus service from Melbourne to Stawell. From Stawell, you can catch a local taxi to reach Heatherlie Quarry, as public transport directly to the quarry is limited. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes and will cost approximately AUD 50-70. Once you arrive at Heatherlie Quarry, you can enjoy a peaceful 1.2 km return walk around the area.
Bike
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Halls Gap. From Halls Gap, take the same route as by car, heading northeast on Grampians Rd, and turning right onto Mt Zero Rd. The distance is about 24 km one way, and it may take around 1.5 hours to cycle. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water. There are no costs associated with biking, aside from the rental if applicable.
