Continue past the airport, following the signs for Hamilton Island Ferry Terminal. Park your car at the terminal. You will need to take a ferry to Hamilton Island, which takes about 30 minutes and costs approximately AUD 50. Once you arrive at Hamilton Island, look for the bus services that operate around the island. Take the bus to the Middle Head lookout, which is well-signposted.
Public Transportation
From Airlie Beach, you can take a shuttle bus that operates between Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island. The shuttle will drop you off at the ferry terminal. Purchase your ferry ticket to Hamilton Island, which is approximately AUD 50 for a round trip. Upon arrival at Hamilton Island, use the local bus service to reach Middle Head. Walking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, once you arrive at Hamilton Island, you can walk to Middle Head. The walking trail starts near the bus stop. It is a scenic walk but may take approximately 1 hour. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as the trail can be quite steep in sections.
