Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Matrei in Osttirol, located within the Hohe Tauern National Park. Head southeast on B100 towards Kals am Großglockner. After about 10 km, take a right onto the L12 road, following signs for Gschlößtal. Continue along the L12 until you reach the parking area at Gschlößtal. Note that there is a parking fee of approximately €5 per day.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a train to Matrei in Osttirol. From Matrei, catch the local bus service, which operates routes to Kals am Großglockner. Specifically, you will want to get off at the Gschlößtal bus stop. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited during off-peak seasons. The bus fare is around €3. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the entrance of Gschlößtal.
Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous and already in the vicinity, consider hiking to Gschlößtal. Starting from the village of Kals am Großglockner, there are marked trails leading to Gschlößtal. The hike takes approximately 2 hours and offers stunning views along the way. Ensure you have adequate hiking gear and check weather conditions before setting out.
