If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the center of Innviertel. Use the B148 road, heading towards the town of Braunau am Inn. Once you reach Braunau, follow the signs for the B143 towards Ried im Innkreis. Continue on the B143 for about 15 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Holzöster and take the exit towards Holzöstersee. The location will be on your right after approximately 5 minutes of driving. Parking is available near the lake.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, begin at the nearest major train station in Innviertel, such as Ried im Innkreis. Board a train heading towards Braunau am Inn. Upon arrival at Braunau, transfer to the local bus service (Bus Line 160) that travels to Holzöstersee. The bus ride will take about 25 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance for return timings, as services may be limited in the evenings.
Walking
If you are already in Holzöster and wish to walk to Holzöstersee, simply follow the local signs from Holzöster 81. The walk is pleasant and takes approximately 15 minutes, taking you through scenic paths leading directly to the lake.
