Car
If you are driving from Millstätter See, head towards the B98 road. Follow the B98 northbound for about 10 kilometers until you reach the exit for Unterhaus. Take the exit and continue on Unterhaus Straße. After approximately 1 kilometer, you will see signs for Burgruine Ortenburg. Follow the signs to the parking area located near the site. Please note that parking may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation
To reach Burgruine Ortenburg via public transport, start at Millstätter See and take the bus line 522 towards Spittal an der Drau. Get off at the Unterhaus stop (approximately a 20-minute ride). From the bus stop, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Burgruine Ortenburg. Follow the signs leading towards the castle, which is located at Unterhaus 22. Please check the local bus schedule for the exact times.
Walking
For a scenic option, if you are nearby in Millstätter See, you can walk to Burgruine Ortenburg. It is approximately 5 kilometers from the lake shore. Head northwest along the paths that lead out of the village and follow the signs for Burgruine Ortenburg. The walk will take about 1 hour and will offer beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
