Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Mount Schneeberg and head towards the Schneeberg train station (Bahnhof Puchberg am Schneeberg). The drive should take approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive at the train station, park your car at the designated parking lot, which may incur a fee of around €5-€10 for the day. After parking, head towards the train tracks to catch the cogwheel train to the summit of Schneeberg.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the regional train from Vienna Hauptbahnhof to Puchberg am Schneeberg. This journey takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arriving at Puchberg train station, walk to the nearby cogwheel train station, which is about a 5-minute walk. Purchase a ticket for the cogwheel train to the summit of Schneeberg. The return ticket costs approximately €20. Once you reach the summit, follow the marked hiking trails towards Fadensteig, which is about a 30-minute hike from the summit.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the summit of Schneeberg, head towards the Fadensteig trailhead, following the signs for Fadensteig. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The hike to Fadensteig itself takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water and snacks with you.
