Getting there

Walking

From the center of Flachau, head east on the B163, then turn onto Höchweg. The walk is approximately 1.5 kilometers and takes about 20-25 minutes. Follow the signs for Schloss Höch.

Public Transport

From the Pongau train station, take a regional train to Flachau. From Flachau station, take Bus Line 1 (Flachau Ortsbus) towards 'Höchweg'. The bus ride takes approximately 10 minutes. Get off at the Höchweg stop, a short walk from Schloss Höch. A single bus fare within Flachau is approximately €2-3. Note that with the Guest Mobility Ticket, the public buses are free.

Car

From the center of Pongau, head southeast on B163 towards Flachau. Continue for approximately 15 kilometers. As you approach Flachau, look for signs leading to Höchweg. Turn right onto Höchweg and continue to Schloss Höch. Parking is available near the castle. Free parking is available at the base stations of Achterjet, Spacejet 1 and Starjet 1.

This Renaissance castle, with origins tracing back to the 11th century, stands as a precious jewel surrounded by untouched natural landscapes.First mentioned in historical records in 1209, Schloss Höch has evolved from a residence to a Renaissance-style castle. Over the centuries, it has been owned by various noble families, including the Gutraters and the Grafen von Plaz. In 1989, Alois Rohrmoser, a ski manufacturer, purchased the castle, and in 1999, it became the property of the Flachau municipality. Since 2002, it has been used for cultural purposes.Visitors can explore the castle's impressive interiors, including the salon in Salzburg Renaissance style with its beautiful tiled stove, the castle chapel, and the cellar vault. Schloss Höch is also a popular location for civil weddings, offering a romantic atmosphere and historical backdrop. The surrounding landscape offers opportunities for serene walks and enjoying the natural beauty, with panoramic views of the mountains.
