Start at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station). Take a train towards Attnang-Puchheim, which departs regularly from the station. Get off at the station called Vöcklamarkt. From there, transfer to bus number 140 towards Mondsee. This bus will take you directly into Mondsee. The total travel time may be around 1-1.5 hours depending on the connection times.
