Discover more about Heidi Horten Collection

The Heidi Horten Collection, situated in a renovated palace in Vienna's city center, has been exhibiting spectacular works of art ranging from classical modernism to the present day since 2022. The collection is a representative cross-section of art history from classical Modernism to the present day. Heidi Goëss-Horten (1941-2022) amassed a collection of several hundred works from the early 1990s onwards. The collection focuses on numerous proponents of Modernism, Neo-Expressionism, and Pop Art. Visitors can admire works by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, Georg Baselitz, and many others. The museum also boasts a sculpture park that has taken on impressive dimensions over the years. The museum is located in the historic Hanuschhof, a building with a varied past. Originally built in 1862/1863 as an annex to the palace of Archduke Albrecht, it later housed a riding school and a chancellery before being used by art and cultural institutions. The building was completely redesigned to create a modern museal environment. The Heidi Horten Collection is not just a space to exhibit art; it is a living dialogue between past and present, inviting visitors to engage in new contextualizations. The museum aims to make art accessible while fostering dynamic discussions about its evolving significance.
