    Discover more about Trattnerhof

The Trattnerhof, situated in Vienna's Innere Stadt (1st district), stands on the site of the original Trattnerhof, a monumental building constructed in 1776 by Johann Thomas von Trattner. Johann Thomas von Trattner was a prominent figure in 18th-century Vienna, holding the position of court printer and bookseller. In 1773, Trattner purchased the Freisingerhof and adjacent medieval buildings on the Graben. He commissioned architect Peter Mollner to design a grand building. Completed in 1776, the original Trattnerhof was the largest privately-owned building in Vienna, featuring six stories, multiple courtyards, and a facade adorned with sculptures. The building housed shops, businesses, and apartments. The Trattnerhof also played a role in Vienna's cultural life. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart resided here in 1784, composing celebrated works and giving concerts in the building's concert hall. In 1911, the original Trattnerhof was demolished and replaced by the two-part structure that stands today. The modern Trattnerhof reflects the architectural styles of the early 20th century and houses offices, retail spaces, and apartments.
