Discover more about Tausendeimerberg

The Tausendeimerberg is more than just a vineyard; it's a symbol of Spitz and the Wachau Valley's rich winemaking heritage. The name, translating to 'Hill of a Thousand Buckets,' comes from the legend that in bountiful years, the vineyard's harvest could fill a thousand 'Eimer,' an old measurement equaling roughly 56,000 liters of wine. The vineyard's steep, terraced slopes, some requiring skilled climbers to cultivate, define its unique terroir. The soil, composed of paragneiss and marble, is ideal for growing premium grapes. Riesling and Neuburger grapes thrive here, producing elegant, crisp wines with distinct minerality. Visitors can explore the vineyard via scenic hiking trails, offering breathtaking views of Spitz, the Danube, and the Wachau Valley. The trails showcase the intricate terrace system and the craftsmanship involved in producing these exceptional wines. From the summit, the town of Spitz unfolds, with its Renaissance and Baroque houses clustered below. The Tausendeimerberg is a cultural landscape shaped by centuries of human interaction with nature. It embodies the essence of the Wachau Valley, inviting visitors to savor its wines and connect with its heritage.
