The final approach to Filzenkogel requires taking the Ahornbahn cable car from Mayrhofen to the Ahorn mountain station. From the Ahornbahn valley station, purchase a round-trip ticket (€39 for adults, €16.50 for children born 2010-2018). The cable car ride itself provides stunning views. From the mountain station, follow the well-marked hiking trail to the summit of Filzenkogel, approximately a 1.5-hour walk.

To reach Filzenkogel via public transport, start at the Mayrhofen bus station. Take bus line 830 towards Schwendau and get off at the 'Ahornbahn' stop. From there, it's a 10-minute walk along Ahornweg to the Ahornbahn valley station. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance as they may vary, especially in the off-peak season. Bus fare is approximately €2-4.
